SCOTLAND’S GLENMUIR SKY HIGH AFTER GETTING AWARD AT 38,000FT!

Glenmuir’s 25-year association with The Ryder Cup was this week marked with a special presentation – at almost 40,000 ft!

The Lanark, Scotland, golf clothing company’s managing director, Colin Mee, was awarded with a commemorative plaque by 2012 European Ryder Cup Team Captain José Maria Olazábal, Sandy Jones, Chief Executive of the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland, and Richard Hills, Ryder Cup Director.

The plaque was presented to Colin on the chartered jet carrying players and officials to Chicago at precisely 38,000ft above Canada, 500 miles west of Montreal at a latitude and longitude of 54° North and 72° West.

Said Colin: “I was taken aback by a tap on the shoulder from Sandy Jones informing me that the Captain would like to see me. My heart sank as I started to imagine what could have gone wrong so I nervously followed him to the front of the aircraft.

“To my absolute surprise and delight Jose Maria thanked me for the longstanding support of Ryder Cup and presented me with a plaque from Ryder Cup and Team Europe in appreciation of Glenmuir’s 25 years of continuous supply of on course sweaters and shirts.”

Glenmuir has been the Preferred Supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team since 1987, a relationship that has coincided with a period of eight victories in the last 12 matches.

Based in Lanark, Glenmuir has been making golfwear since 1891.
