(Close House, England, 14 August 2023) International Series England will take place at the renowned Close House from 17-20 August, 2023, and there are plenty of compelling factors that make attending the highly anticipated tournament a must.
A Close House call for 22 LIV Golf players
The elite field consists of 22 LIV Golf players headlined by former World No.1 Lee Westwood alongside fellow former Ryder Cup players Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell.
With nearly half of LIV Golf’s 48-player roster competing in the US$2m event, representatives from 11 of the league’s 12 teams are featured in the International Series England line-up.
Three of the International Series England field found form at LIV Golf Bedminster, which took place on 11-13 August, and finished in the top five; including Anirban Lahiri (2nd), Dean Burmester (T3), and Abraham Ancer (T3).

A galaxy of Asian Tour stars
The best of the Asian Tour is also well represented with 18 of the top 20 on its Order of Merit entered for the Close House field.

Stars to watch out for include:

Andy Ogletree – the two-time International Series winner currently leads both the Asian Tour and The International Series Orders of Merit.

Kieran Vincent – the most recent International Series event winner picked up his first pro victory at KN Golf Links, Vietnam, in April. The Zimbabwean is also the younger brother of LIV Golf player Scott Vincent, who earned his place in the league courtesy of a first placed finish in The International Series 2022 Order of Merit.

Nitithorn ‘Fever’ Thippong – the Asian Tour’s most recent tournament champion following a victory in the Mandiri Indonesia Open is also a past International Series winner (Singapore, 2022).

Cheer on the ‘Toon’ talent
A ‘Toon Army’ in their own right, the city of Newcastle is represented by no fewer than five professional golfers in the International Series England field.

Matt Killen, Simon Robinson, Rhys Thompson, James Wilson, and Will Marshall can expect a rousing reception from the passionate North East crowd.

Challenging championship course at Close House
Set in the beautiful and serene Tyne Valley, only seven miles outside the centre of Newcastle and nestled alongside the banks of the River Tyne, the 250-year-old Close House estate boasts one of the UK’s Top 100 Golf Courses in the Lee Westwood Colt Course.

Tour proven, courtesy of British Masters events in 2017 and 2020, the challenging versatile terrain will prove a tough test, even for the world-class field assembled for International Series England.

Celebrities teeing up too!
The golf will start in style with a Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday 16 August headlined by Newcastle United and England football legend Alan Shearer.

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer will be joined by numerous stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

Cricket legend and Ashes winner Steve Harmison and former Sunderland AFC and Middlesbrough captain Lee Cattermole will also be taking on the Colt Course alongside Olympic gold medalist turned TV personality Sam Quek, and more to be confirmed.

Witness golf’s next global star
Winning the International Series Order of Merit is the only guaranteed pathway to the LIV Golf League and winning International Series England will give the victor one giant step towards the number one spot.

Now at the fifth stop of The International Series 2023 schedule and at a pivotal point in the season, the tournament at Close House may play a decisive role in who will secure the coveted ‘golden ticket’ to the ultra-lucrative LIV Golf League next year.
