World Golf Hall of Fame members complete best field in tournament history
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – PGA TOUR Champions golfers Ernie Els and Davis Love III have officially committed to the Sanford International on Sept. 12-18 at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Els, a four-time major champion (1994, 1997 U.S. Open and 2002, 2012 Open Championship), returns to the Sanford International for his third appearance at the tournament. Currently sitting ninth in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, Els has eight top-10 finishes in 16 starts this season. The 2011 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee is coming off a strong performance (T-6) at the Ally Challenge in Detroit. Els has 19 PGA TOUR victories and 47 international victories on his resume. He was named the 2015 Payne Stewart Award recipient.
Love III, the 1997 PGA Championship winner, is the captain of the 2022 President’s Cup team that will be competing at Quail Hollow in North Carolina, immediately following the Sanford International. The North Carolina native has won 21 times on the PGA TOUR and competed in the Ryder Cup from 1993-2004, while captaining the team in 2012 and 2016. Love III was named the 2008 Payne Stewart Award recipient and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.
