VPAR Live Golf Scoring Experiencing International Growth

VPAR(New York, NY) – VPAR (www.vpar.com) – creator of the award-winning VPAR app and the global leader in live golf scoring – announces that recent growth in both total app downloads and worldwide tournament scoring managed events are at all-time highs.

App downloads increased 418% over the last year, with golfers using the app in over 60 countries. Likewise, its tournament scoring event service has grown exponentially since last season, from 729 tournaments in 2014 to over 1,000 scheduled for this year. The anticipated 37% increase in events is expected to continue through the close of 2015.

This recent growth comes on the heels of a 276% increase in app downloads over 2013 and the company’s emerging momentum in the United States – the world’s largest golf market. In 2014 the VPAR Live Golf Scoring app won “Best Sports App” at the 2014 Sports Technology Awards.

“VPAR is becoming an integral part of golfers’ equipment as technology is becoming more integrated into golf every day,” said VPAR Managing Director Jason Stoop. “Within 3 years, the majority of amateur golfers will not be using print scorecards– connecting socially using golf as a platform will be the new norm.”

Out of the 1000 tournaments and outings this year, VPAR’s turnkey tournament scoring service will be used at some of the top venues across the world including: Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Winged Foot, Kiawah Island, Gleneagles and Celtic Manor. Using handheld scorepads, amateur golfers input their scores at each hole to create a live mobile leaderboard – recreating the competitive thrill of knowing where you stand at any time.

The VPAR app, currently available for iPhone and coming to Android later this month, uses the same live scoring features and also integrates GPS, thousands of course directories, score archiving and more.
