Sleepy’s offers new bed to Tiger Woods

Woods Blamed Wednesday’s Aches and Pains on “Soft Mattress”

JERSEY CITY, NJ (AUGUST 22, 2013) – On the eve of the high-profile FedEx Cup at Liberty National Golf Course, Sleepy’s the mattress professionals has stepped up to help Tiger Woods make the most of his game.

Sleepy’s, the country’s largest mattress retailer, is chipping in to help Woods get a better night sleep, offering to gift him with a new mattress for the duration of his New Jersey stay. Woods can take his choice of a Simmons Comforpedic Luxury Firm mattress or a Sealy’s Posturepedic Comfort Firm.

According to news reports, Woods woke up Wednesday morning with a stiff back and neck, which he attributed to an overly soft hotel mattress. His discomfort kept him from hitting a full shot for the back nine during the Barclays Pro-Am tournament. This is the second year in a row that Woods had a subpar night of sleep before the tournament, and commented last year that he was even considering sleeping on the hotel floor.

“If the world’s best golfer has trouble getting a good night’s sleep, imagine how difficult it can be for the rest of us,” commented Sleepy’s Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Lobb. “We’re extending the offer to Tiger Woods to demonstrate how critical the right mattress is to proper sleep, and how important sleep is for any type of job performance.”

“The wrong mattress can not only cause muscle stiffness, but it can also result in poor sleep, which can definitely impact mental acuity and athletic performance,” said Sleepy’s consultant Nancy Rothstein, The Sleep Ambassador. Sleepy’s offers several tips for bad back sufferers, which can be found here.

In addition to a mattress, Sleepy’s gifted Woods with a sleeping mask and neck pillow to help him get some shuteye on the flight home.
