MIZUNO TOUR STAFF PLAYER STACY LEWIS CLAIMS THIRD LPGA VICTORY OF 2012 AT NAVISTAR BAY LPGA CLASSIC

Strong Iron Play Leads Phenom American Golfer to Second Win in Alabama, Completing the “Alabama Slam”

Norcross, GA – (September 26, 2012) – Mizuno Brand Ambassador Stacy Lewis captured her third LPGA victory of the 2012 campaign by two strokes, edging out defending champion Lexi Thompson and completing the “Alabama Slam” with a victory this past Sunday in Prattville at the Navistar LPGA Classic and April’s Mobile Bay LPGA Classic.  With her solid short game on display Sunday afternoon, Lewis validated her strong iron and wedge play by recovering from a bogey at the par-3 second hole to card four birdies en route to a 3-under-par 69.

Displaying poise and consistency all week, Lewis claimed her third title of the season with the help of Mizuno’s JPX-800 Pro irons, MP T-11 wedges, JPX-800 3-wood and JPX-800 driver.  Lewis started the final round with a two-shot lead, but as was the case back in April at Mobile Bay, Lewis had to fend off Thompson’s amazing display of golf on the back nine to capture the championship.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Stacy on her incredible third LPGA victory this season,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf.  “Stacy has been an incredible ambassador, providing key feedback and information to our team during the development of new products and we couldn’t be more proud to support the top ranked American golfer with Mizuno products.”

With Sunday’s victory, Lewis regained the No. 2 spot in the Rolex world rankings. She also padded the lead in her bid to become the first American to win the Rolex Player of the Year award since Beth Daniel in 1994. Lewis leads the POY point’s race with 184.
