Lehi, UT. (Dec. 23, 2014) – The Web.com Tour Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and hosted by the Utah Sports Commission will be played at a new site and with a new date in 2015.

The tournament will move to the Golf Club at Thanksgiving Point, after being held at Willow Creek Country Club for the past sixteen years.

Thanksgiving Point has been the host for many of Utah’s largest golf events including the men’s and women’s Utah State Amateur Championship, Johnny Miller’s Champions Challenge, as well as the host course for the PGA and Utah Junior Golf Association.

“The Utah Sports Commission appreciates the new partnership with the Golf Club at Thanksgiving Point and the exciting opportunities this new venue will provide to the players, their families and spectators,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission.

Billy Casper, owner of 51 PGA Tour victories (including three Majors) and nine Champions Tour wins, is thrilled that the Utah Championship will be played at Thanksgiving Point. “The golf course is one of the true championship venues in Utah. Johnny Miller’s design is perfectly suited to host a Web.com Tour event. I look forward to being on hand to meet and greet players and sponsors and to watch all the action.”

A championship caliber course, the Golf Club at Thanksgiving Point is 7,714 yards long and covers more than 200 acres, providing the 2015 field of golfers with new challenges. The course was recently named the number one public golf club in Utah by Golf Digest and one of fifteen “hidden gems” in the country by Links Magazine.

PGA TOUR rookie Tony Finau says, “I’ve grown up playing and practicing at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club. It’s pretty much been my home course. It’s very exciting that the Utah Championship will play there this year. The players are going to find a very challenging layout that will test each club in their bag.”

This Johnny Miller Signature Golf Club cradles the most spectacular gardens in Utah, and creatively uses the natural mountain desert landscape to enhance the overall golf experience. The tournament, which will once again be broadcast on GOLF CHANNEL, will generate an estimated $3 million in media value to the state , capturing the beauty of the course and its surroundings to golf fans across the globe. The tournament will also generate an estimated $4 million in economic impact to Utah’s economy.

Vanguard Golf Managment’s Mark Whetzel, who is Director of Golf at Thanksgiving Point and will oversee tournament operations for the Utah Championship adds, “We are thrilled to be hosting Utah’s only PGA TOUR event. Having the Web.com Tour here is a feather in Johnny Miller’s cap. His design will bring a new challenge and a fun environment for the Utah Championship. Thanksgiving Point will provide a championship course worthy of Web.com Tour standards and will be an excellent example of the quality of public play available in Utah.”

The Utah Championship will move to the last weekend in July, with the four-day event taking place July 30 – August 2.
