Lawrence, Kan. (Nov. 18, 2014) – The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Golf Championships will be contested Feb. 21-23, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the Golf Industry Show.

The championships, presented in partnership with The Toro Co. and benefiting the Environmental Institute for Golf, will offer four different events over three days and will draw members of all abilities. The competitions will take place at five high-end courses in the San Antonio area, including two courses that host professional events for the PGA Tour: the Oaks and Canyons courses at TPC San Antonio.

In addition to the GCSAA National Championship Feb. 22-23, a four-ball competition will be held Feb. 21, followed by a shamble event on Feb. 22. The two-day Golf Classic is scheduled for Feb. 22-23, and will offer both a gross and net flighted competition that will use a point-quota scoring system. Flights in the Golf Classic will rotate between courses.

More than 400 GCSAA members participated in the 2014 combined championships, with Deron Zendt winning the 36-hole, stroke play National Championship at the Magnolia Course at the Disney Resort in Orlando. Zendt, the superintendent at Banyan Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., won the title with a 5-under-par 139. He will return to defend his title at the private Cordillera Ranch Golf Club, where Tour player and Ryder-Cupper Jimmy Walker is a member. The National Championship is limited to 100 GCSAA members with a 5.0 handicap index or lower.

Other courses welcoming golfers over the three days of events are La Cantera (Palmer Course) and The Quarry Golf Club. Read more about the courses and competitions at www.golfindustryshow.com.

The PGA of America, which has been involved in the event for more than 12 years, will provide Rules officials and course set-up. Toro, a GCSAA Platinum Partner, is a global leader in providing maintenance equipment and irrigation systems to golf courses.
