Peter Millar Offers Apparel Designed for U.S. Presidents Cup Team to the Public

November 15, 2011; CARY, NC – As the clothier of the U.S. Presidents Cup team, Peter Millar (PeterMillar.com) is making the same shirts the pros will wear in competition available for purchase as a way to show support for the team.

The Presidents Cup shirts are exclusively available online through the Peter Millar Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/petermillar), where users must “like” Peter Millar to unlock the store. By “liking” Peter Millar, users also will be entered in a Uniform Giveaway Contest; one user will win the full collection of shirts worn by team members each day of the Presidents Cup.*

“Our goal is to bring timeless sophistication and style to the U.S. Presidents Cup team,” said Chris Knott, founder of Peter Millar. “Each uniform was carefully designed to ensure that the pros maintain their championship caliber and image on and off the course.”

Team captain Fred Couples chose Peter Millar to design the uniforms for U.S. golfers. Peter Millar worked closely with Couples to design classically styled clothing that incorporated the red, white and blue of our nation’s flag in interesting ways.

Couples also requested that Peter Millar design a shirt with the green and gold of Australia’s national rugby team to show respect for the tournament’s host country. The team will sign one of these shirts during the tournament and donate it to charity.

Peter Millar will outfit Couples, captain assistant Jay Haas, and all other members of the team for the opening ceremonies and gala. On the course, golfers will wear Peter Millar knit shirts, pants and sweaters.

The Presidents Cup is a team match-play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers – 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe. The competition is held every two years, and since 1996 has alternated between United States and international venues.

This year’s President’s Cup will be held November 14-20 at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia.
