Walk with LPGA Legends: The Legends Tour Open Championship Features “Birdie Walk” During Golf Action at Innisbrook

(INNISBROOK, FL) – The Legends Tour announced recently it would feature a new opportunity for fans to enjoy exciting golf action while getting in a bit of a workout. The inaugural Publix and Kraft Foods “Birdie Walk” will be held during both days of play at the 3rd annual Legends Tour Open Championship presented by Publix and Kraft Foods on the Island Course at Innisbrook, A Salamander Golf and Spa Resort. The walk is designed to integrate Legends Tour fans further into the tournament action by creating a custom path inside the golf course that will feature “checkpoints” with freebies and healthy snacks. Fans stop at each of five checkpoints to receive a sticker acknowledging their visits; those who snag all five stickers then hit the final checkpoint – the Legends Tour merchandise tent, will claim a free Birdie Walk T-shirt.

“We’re excited about the Birdie Walk,” said Jane Blalock, CEO of The Legends Tour. “It’s a great way for fans to see more of the course and more great golf, and it’s not a tremendously long hike. The trail follows along holes that are close to the clubhouse and restrooms are readily accessible. It’s a perfect opportunity to get in a good walk and stay healthy while watching some really good golf shots.”
Measuring just under 2.5 miles, the Birdie Walk will be open to the public on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. both days. Tee times for the Legends start at 8:00 a.m. both mornings with gates opening to the public at 7:30 a.m.  Legends Tour fans wishing to take the Birdie Walk can check in at the Publix tent, located next to the practice putting green.  Walkers will receive a map of the course showing the Birdie Walk trail and a complimentary recyclable bag from Publix.

At each stop along the Birdie Walk, walkers will receive free samples and informational materials from the exhibitors manning the checkpoints along with a Birdie sticker on their admissions ticket to show proof of their visits. Walkers who stop at all five on-course checkpoints can take their completed tickets to the Legends Tour merchandise tent to claim a free T-shirt. The featured checkpoints will be sponsored by Publix, Kraft Foods, Zephyrhills Natural Spring Water, United Healthcare and the Legends Tour. There is no additional cost to enter the walk.

Also appearing on course alongside hole number one teeing area will be the Blood Mobile of Florida Blood Services, accepting donations from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13. Other vendors, including Innisbrook’s Indaba Spa, will be positioned around the practice putting green behind the clubhouse, forming the Publix and Kraft Foods “Healthy Living Expo,” open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both tournament days. Tickets to attend the Legends Tour Open Championship are $20 per adult. Kids 17 and under and all military personnel with ID gain free admission. All ticket proceeds support the tournament’s charitable partner, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida. Tournament tickets are available online at www.thelegendstour.com/tickets or by calling (813) 262-1785.
