Quarterback Eli Manning Also to Debut, Will Join Brother Peyton in Celebrity Field

MONTEREY, Calif., Jan. 22, 2020 – The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am today announced that Macklemore, Grammy Award-winning rapper and songwriter, will participate in the 2020 tournament. It will be Macklemore’s first-ever appearance at the event, scheduled Feb. 3-9 on the Monterey Peninsula.

“We are thrilled that Macklemore will be part of our celebrity/amateur field next month,” said Steve John, CEO of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. “He certainly has his priorities in order: family, philanthropy, music, and golf. We genuinely look forward to welcoming him to our 2020 event. He promises to be a huge draw for spectators.”

John subsequently announced that Macklemore will be joined in the celebrity field by brothers Peyton and Eli Manning, both two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. Peyton has played in the tournament before, but this will be Eli’s debut appearance at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty in Seattle, Macklemore burst onto the music scene in 2012 when he teamed with Ryan Lewis on a studio album, “The Heist,” which featured two No. 1 single’s “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”. Thrift Shop is certified RIAA Diamond, amassing sales of more than 10 million units, while “Can’t Hold Us” is close behind with over 9 million units sold.

At the 2014 GRAMMY Awards ceremony, the hip hop duo won four awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. During his career, Macklemore has been nominated for 64 prestigious awards, winning 21 of them.

Like the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Macklemore is actively involved with charities. In 2015, he helped start “The Residency”, a program dedicated to providing mentorship, access and opportunity to aspiring artists in Seattle. Over the course of his career he has consistently used his platform to advance issues of social justice.

In addition to his love of golf, Macklemore is an avid sports fan, and is a part owner of the Seattle Sounders FC soccer club.

The New York Giants’ Eli Manning will be joined in the 2020 amateur field by two other active NFL quarterbacks — Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers and Atlanta’s Matt Ryan. Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who quickly became a gallery favorite, also is scheduled to return.

The professional field will be led by defending champion and five-time event winner Phil Mickelson (1998, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2019), Dustin Johnson (2009, 2010), and Brandt Snedeker (2013, 2015). The current field can be viewed at www.attpbgolf.com/players.

The 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be held on Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Practice rounds are scheduled for Tuesday-Wednesday (Feb. 4-5) with the four official tournament rounds set for Thursday-Sunday (Feb. 6-9).

Special fan-friendly charity events include the Chevron Shoot-Out at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, plus the 3M Celebrity Challenge and the Million Dollar Hole-in-One for Charity on Wednesday, Feb. 5, starting at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively.

The tournament is hosted by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which last year donated $15.6 million to support local nonprofit organizations in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties.
