West Palm Beach’s New Banyan Cay Resort & Golf Hires Respected Industry Veteran as Director of Golf

West Palm Beach, Fla. – Banyan Cay Resort & Golf has announced who will lead their golf operations, and it’s one of the industry’s most respected veterans. Richard Leconche, former professional golfer and recognized as one of America’s foremost golf instructors will be Banyan Cay Resort & Golf’s new Director of Golf.

Leconche was born in Connecticut and graduated Central Connecticut State University. He turned professional and played competitively for five years. After acquiring membership in the PGA of America, Leconche both owned and operated golf courses in Connecticut and Georgia.

Leconche is a former PGA National Golf Resort golf school instructor. He is also the former Director of Golf at Emerald Dunes Golf Club in West Palm Beach where he piloted two national programs. Both of Leconche’s programs, Hook a Kid on Golf and the Executive Women’s Golf League were recognized as leaders in the industry.

Leconche credits Jack Grout who was Jack Nicklaus’ instructor, and Bob Toski, founder of the Golf Digest schools for helping him become the quality instructor he is today. Leconche has played in Top Golf all over Europe while working with the Beverly Hills-based Crystal Cruise Line. His honors include nominations for most Innovative Junior Golf Program, South Florida Teacher of the Year, and he was voted one of America’s top instructors by an independent counsel in Washington DC.

The centerpiece at Banyan Cay is the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course—the highest tier of offering from Nicklaus Design, the world’s leading design firm. Mr. Nicklaus, who has personally been involved with nearly 300 golf course designs worldwide, is overseeing the design and development of the course.
