Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic Next Week in Alabama

The Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic will return next week to Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Played on the Senator Course at RTJ Capitol Hill, the full-field event will feature 144 golfers from around the world. More info and media credentials link at www.yokohamatirelpgaclassic.com.

7:30 to 8:30 a.m. – Golf Clinic for Local Montgomery Women – A group of Montgomery area women will have a golf clinic with a LPGA pro. The RTJ Golf Pros will help lead the clinic. The event is to encourage more local women to play golf. Ally McDonald, a Mississippi State grad and sponsor exemption, will be helping with the clinic along with the RTJ Capitol Hill golf pros.

Noon – Media Center opens.

1:00 – Qualifier for final two spots in the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. On the Senator course at RTJ Capitol Hill

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

10:00 a.m. – Champions Challenge followed by Junior Clinic (1,200 local students). Four former champions from Prattville LPGA tournaments (MJ Hur, Stacy Lewis, Lexi Thompson and Katherine Kirk) will participate in a unique tire/golf challenge in front of the clubhouse. The past champions will try to hit golf balls through nine tires with inserts spelling out Yokohama. The winner leaves with a custom trophy and a new set of Yokohama tires of her choice.

The Junior Clinic will be held immediately following the Champions Challenge. It will feature Brittany Lincicome and her fiancé/former professional golfer Dewald Gouws. This event is sponsored by Alabama Power.

4:00 p.m. – Girls Golf event where Kelly Shon will give a clinic for 12 local girls near the Media Center. The girls participating have already been selected. Kelly is first golfer from Princeton University to earn a PGA TOUR or LPGA card.

Player interviews: Returning Champion MJ Hur and Brooke Henderson. Times TBD based on Pro-Am schedule.

Gran Turismo 6 racing simulator competition (Yokohama Tire Drive to Win Challenge) between players and caddies at the Yokohama Tire booth all day. They can compete throughout the day. Winner gets a set of times

6:30 p.m.- LPGA player to throw out first pitch at Montgomery Biscuits baseball game. Pitch at 6:50 p.m.

7:00 p.m. – LPGA player to do coin toss before Carver vs. Lee high school football game in Crampton Bowl in downtown Montgomery.
