SAN DIEGO, CA – June 6, 2012 – Graphite Design, maker of some of the most widely played premium golf shafts on the PGA TOUR, introduces the new heavier G-Series 80 and 90 gram premium golf shafts incorporating X Directional Technology (XDT).

The G-Series shaft is the next generation of premium Graphite Design shafts and is very adaptable to today’s new head technology.  The new heavier shafts work well in fairway woods and are designed for players with higher swing speeds. As with all Graphite Design shafts, the G-Series shaft technology is derived from years of research and development designed to produce consistency and stability and deliver outstanding performance benefits.

“So many tour players prefer to use 80 and 90 gram shafts in their fairway woods,” said Tak Yamada, President, Graphite Design. “In the past, our YS+ 8.1 and 9.1 shafts have been popular with stronger players because of the heavier weight options. These new G-Series 80 and 90 gram shafts will build on the past success of the YS+ shafts and meet the continued demands of golfers looking for heavier shafts.”

The G-Series performance characteristics favor a low to mid launch trajectory and mid ball spin. The new X Directional Technology – XDT – incorporates the use of the already proven Graphite Design MSI (Material Stiffness Integration) design method as well as this new and unique application of graphite fiber alignment throughout the shaft structure. During the development phase of XDT, measurable performance gains were discovered through a more balanced distribution of the graphite fibers within the plies of the shaft design.  This proprietary application of XDT has made the new G series the most balanced, versatile high performance golf shaft available today.

The G-Series shafts are now available in six weights: 40 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 50 gram (Lite, Regular and Stiff flexes); 60 gram (Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); 70 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); 80 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes); and 90 gram (Stiff and X-Stiff flexes). The G-Series shafts have an MSRP of $199.00.

The company’s Tour AD logo is featured on all of Graphite Design’s Tour-proven shafts to specifically promote “Accuracy and Distance” and has long been known for high quality and superior performance. This is represented by the company’s success that has been documented by professionals and amateurs alike. Graphite Design is the most dominant shaft on the JGTO Tour and has been for the past eight years.

Graphite Design International manufactures the highest quality shafts in the world for Pure Distance and Perfect Accuracy. Graphite Design shafts can be seen in play by the best professional players on the PGA, Nationwide, Champions, Japan, European and LPGA tours.  Graphite Design shafts reinforced its dominance on the Japan Tour, where it has claimed 163 consecutive graphite wood shaft brand counts — an unprecedented streak which dates to 2003. On the PGA Tour, Graphite Design shafts have helped professionals earn 81 victories since 2004 and millions of dollars in prize money. A total of 60 US distributors and 16 European and Asian distributors supply Graphite Design shafts to custom club fitters around the world.
